The Eco Home Model Design Competition

Project Description:

The “Eco Home Model Design Competition” (the Competition) is jointly organized by the STEM Education Centre of Education Bureau and Hong Kong Architecture Centre, which aims to promote the environmental awareness such as the concepts of sustainable development and green architecture, as well as the STEM knowledge, among students.

The Competition includes the seminars and workshops, which are conducted by Hong Kong Architecture Centre; the model-making support is provided by STEM Education Centre; and the representatives from School of Architecture, CUHK and related professionals are invited as the judges.

Description how the project contributes with humanity:

The Competition is divided into primary, junior secondary and senior secondary school groups, and the design targets are those seniors, teenagers or children. A total of 100 entries have been received, with nearly 300 students’ participation. Overall, we could see from these beautiful works that the students fully used their knowledge and creativity in designing their own green and liveable spaces. In terms of environmental protection and the needs of potential users, the students incorporate a lot of environmental elements into the overall design of the spaces and facilities, which achieved the “people-oriented” approach.
